Spring from the Four Seasons, 1st movement allegro Vivaldi Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.

The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi is a set of four concerti grossi, one each representing Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. This is the opening of the first movement of the Spring concerto.   After a short orchestral introduction, there is an amazing passage for 3 solo violins, clearly imitating the warbling of birds in Springtime.

This is baroque music, but it might be claimed to be a foretaste, 150 or more years ahead of its time, of the programmatic romantic and impressionistic music of the late 19th century.
