Serenade in G K525 Eine Kleine Nachtmusik 1st movement (violin/piano) Mozart Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik means A Little Night-Music. Mozart wrote it in 1787 in Vienna as a serenadet scored for 2 violins, viola, cello and a double-bass. Here it is arranged for violin and piano by Victor Gomersall..

This first movement is marked allegro. Vast numbers of people will recognise the theme in the opening four bars of this movement. It is an effortlessly cheerful piece, in a sort of miniature sonata form.
The first, very well-known theme is in G. The second theme starts in G then modulates towards D major. The third theme stays in D, bringing the exposition towards its close, in the classical dominant key.
The development restates the opening but in D, then promptly starts to modulate around several keys, before returning to the home key of G major for the recapitulation.
