Symphony No.94 in G Surprise 1st movement Haydn Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Haydn spent quite a lot of time in England, responding to his great popularity there, fuelled by the London concerts organised by the English Impressario Salomon. He wrote his 94th symphony in Hertfordshire, on his first visit to England in 1791.

The slow introduction starts with the oboes, then violins and then cellos. The light and sprightly main theme, marked vivace assai, then comes in on the violins. The second theme of the exposition is in the dominant key of D major.
