Strings is a MIDI instrument representing the string section of the orchestra, especially the violins. It is General midi code 48, and is usually the best of the 128 Standard General Midi instruments for use when a massed string sound is required. With a high quality sound-card in the computer, or an attached Midi Keyboard with good quality orchestral sound, this can sound very realistic, but on the low range midi devices, it tends to sound very electronic.
