Cherubini
Luigi
Cherubini (1760-1842) was born in
Florence. After musical education in
Italy, at the age of 25 years he settled
in France, where he lived for the rest
of his life. At first he wrote
commissions for Marie Antoinette, so
after the French revolution he needed to
disguise his former connection with the
aristocracy.
He composed many operas, some masses and
motets, and 6 string quartets.
